If you experience periods of increasing game speeds after periods of pausing or slowness during game play you will want to do the following:

Close all TSR's running.

• Close and exit all programs and TSRs.
• Disable music (move the in-game Music Volume slider all the way to the left).
• If this works, then to play music copy the d2music.mpq file from the play disc to the hard drive (in the Diablo II folder).
